In honor of the 79th anniversary of Jordan’s Independence Day, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has declared Sunday, May 25, a public holiday across the Kingdom.
This national day of rest applies to all ministries, public institutions, government-owned companies, municipalities, official universities, the Greater Amman Municipality, and joint service councils.

While most of the public sector will pause operations to celebrate this historic milestone, the decision excludes institutions whose work requires ongoing operations — such as healthcare and emergency services.

Independence Day marks a defining moment in Jordan’s modern history, celebrating the country’s sovereignty and national identity. Expect flags flying, streets buzzing with celebration, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy local events across the city.
