What’s Really in Your Drink? Jordan’s Toxic Alcohol Scandal Uncovered

Jordan’s Public Security Directorate (PSD) has officially referred the methanol poisoning case to the Public Prosecutor at the Grand Criminal Court following a full investigation.
This tragic incident has resulted in 9 fatalities and 57 confirmed cases of methanol poisoning, 32 of which occurred after a social gathering last Friday. Although no new deaths were reported today, 10 poisoned individuals remain hospitalized, some on ventilators, while others have stabilized or been discharged.
In coordination with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, authorities have confiscated and withdrawn all products manufactured by the implicated factory. The complete list of removed brands includes:

11. “Arak Al-Nawras”
A special investigative committee formed by the Public Prosecution of the Grand Criminal Court has already charged 12 suspects with murder and others with attempted murder. They are now undergoing interrogation as authorities prepare formal legal proceedings.
Health officials warn of serious long-term risk including permanent vision loss and organ damage for survivors, shedding light on the critical dangers of methanol-contaminated alcohol.
